A new Austroasiatic
homeland
Scholars have sought to situate the Austroasiatic
Urheimat as far west as the Indus valley and as far east as the Yangtze delta
or insular Southeast Asia. The principal
contenders today for the Austroasiatic homeland are the Indian sub-continent,
mainland Southeast Asia and the middle
Yangtze. Genetic, archaeological, palaeobotanical and linguistic evidence will be
examined to present the case for a new Austroasiatic homeland.
